Currencies for Mac

Currencies for Mac teaser

If you occasionally find yourself on Google, looking up currency conversions because you don’t want to take your iPhone out of your pocket—to use Edovia’s iOS version of Currencies, no doubt—then this is the app to you.

Chirpy 2.0

Chirpy 2.0 Teaser

High Order Bit just released the latest version of their iOS app for direct messages from Twitter. It’s a fantastic update to an already fantastic product. As a long time user of Chirpy I was really excited to get to help out with a few bits of the new UI, mainly the new chat bubbles and the color choices. If you’re using Twitter, you should be using this app.

This release has a bunch of new things, including a grid view, fullscreen mode, and privacy, just to name a few. I also got the opportunity to give it a fresh new icon as well. Read more about the updates to this version, or go directly to iTunes and grab yourself a copy.

Favstar Tweets and Replies

Favstar Tweets and Replies Teaser Graphic

Just finished helping Tim out with a little project on Favstar. He’s made it even better by allowing you to write a new tweet or send a reply directly from the site. Go sign in and start using it. Better yet, go sign up for the bonus features so Tim can continue to make Favstar rock.

Where’s Your Portfolio?

The actual portfolio is in the works, but until then I’m going to share a few links with you. They cover most of my recent work that I can share. Please feel free to contact me to get more samples.

GV Mobile+ 2.0 is Out

GV Mobile+ 2.0

I’ve had the good fortune of working with Sean Kovacs for a couple of years now on his third party Google Voice app. We’ve seen our fair share of ups and downs (like being banned from the App Store for a while there), but we’re back now with a brand new UI, icon and a whole slew of new features to keep up with what the service has to offer. It’s been fun to build. I hope you guys enjoy it.

What’s in a Name?

Starting a business means having a business name. But I have a long, humorous history of not being able to stick with a name, be it an online pseudonym or domain name.

Since I’ve always loved exploring word shapes, patterns and other weird bits like that, I decided to use an anagram to name my new design shop. With a name as awesome as Jacob Andrew Desaulniers, there was no shortage of word combinations that were good for a chuckle. After eliminating my last name I finally got something that I liked: Carbon Jawed. I dropped the ‘ed’ so it rolled off the tongue a little better and joined it into one word, because, well, it’s my prerogative.

So that’s that. It’s my name, rearranged. I’m in business for myself. It’s early still, but I’m excited.

Open For Business

As of yesterday this is my full time gig.

It had always been my plan to try and work for myself full-time, but my time table got escalated a bit due to the elimination of my position at my day job. I’m fairly excited about the opportunities this will provide me, but I’m also a little nervous as well. I hope to be able to elaborate more on this in the future, but right now I’ve got a fair bit of work to do to get everything in order.
Most importantly, I need to get that little thing called a portfolio made and online. I look forward to showing you fine folks the awesome projects I’ve already had the pleasure of being a part of. Until then, you should drop me an email to say hello or you could follow me on Twitter.
